Cycling & Hiking
at La Residence
Mont Rochelle's trails climb straight out of a valley otherwise defined by vineyards.

La Residence sits inside a village of old Cape Dutch architecture, with Mont Rochelle rising directly behind it. A hike up the mountain is strenuous by any measure, while a pedal through Franschhoek itself is closer to a slow loop past wine farms and gardens. Both routes work up an appetite that the valley's restaurants are well placed to satisfy afterwards. This is one of the few activities here that costs nothing but effort: no transfer required, no equipment beyond a bicycle or a decent pair of boots, and the mountain is visible from the estate's own grounds.
